Bryan:
State your name and what you play
in the band?
Chris: I'm
Chris, and I do the vocals and I write
the words.
Bryan: What made
you sign to Evil Water Records?
Chris: We had some
other offers on the floor, but none
as free and as giving at the same
time as the one EWR proposed to us...and
Kevin and Mike are awesome doods.
Bryan: Where did
the name Eandi from?
Chris: I was reading
a poem by a famous published author
and I'm always hesistant to say who
it was, because im not 100%, but it
was within a poem...furthermore, the
writer compared the vowels e and i
to his wife and him...he basically
was implying that you are what you
love, and you cant write without vowels...and
in the vowel line, e comes before,
right before i, so they are next to
each other...also (probably) implying
the closeness people share when involved
in relationships...so we decided to
just make that idea one word...its
pronounced as if it were to be, "e
and i" but its
spelled eandi. haha
Bryn: You guys are
finshing up your new EP. What can
we except from it?
Chris: Yeah, we actually
go in about 5 hours from now, back
to the studio to do the last track,
then in about a week, we remix and
remaster and will then put it out
a little bit after that. As far as
music wise, Travis and Jake work really
well together so you can expect heaviness
with tons of melody, but yet still
more progressive than most other bands
that get held into that "screamo"
genre, we just call ourselves a rock
band or a hardcore band-- so you can
expect hardcore elements and rocknroll
elements...you can expect 2 brand
new songs, "The Safest You've
Ever Been" and "What if
The Catskills Moved To California".
You can expect it to do the speaking
for itself, its gonna be a grenade!
ahahahahhaha.
Bryan: How does the
writing process go for band?
Chris: As far as
strings go (bass and two guitars)
Travis and Jake, our two guitarists,
generally, come up with ideas and
work off each other to write initial
riffs or entire songs then Isaac (who
recently left the band for personal
reasons) would put his bass touch
to it and obviously Adam would put
his drumming touch to it...I come
last. I trust those doods enought
to make good enough jam that I can
place my own touch to willingly....which
they do very well...I write the lyrics,
no one else does, not because they
cant write, but because I prefer them
to be personal and about me. ahahaha
I'm a selfish lyric hog! ahaaha. but
yeah, since I cant strum guitars and
hit snares I get to spew words which
is awesome... so it basically goes,
guitars then bass then drums, then
I come in and just buffer the song,
to each something bigger and better
or twist it completely.
Bryan: What do you
plan on doing to support the new album?
Chris: A lot of self
promotion, as usual, all of us doods
will be online, being dorks talking
to our evolving fanbase to get the
news out...we are very nice, talk
to us if you read this...we wanna
talk to anybody, fans or whoever...
running ads in zines, making banners,
ya know, every band does this, there
is a pretty solid approach that every
band takes...flyers, ads, word of
mouth, internet, you get the idea...
Bryan: Any favorite
bands that you have played with?
Chris: Actually I'm
gonna answer this in a wierd way...recently
we played the whiskey, with a few
good bands...but i remember going
into sound check thinking "The
Calico Systems record wasnt all too
good I wanna see if they are anything
at all decent" so I watched their
soundcheck...they were nuts just to
watch at a soundcheck...they were
great, that show nevea tears played
too, they are fun I think...but we
play with two bands from our area
alot that we are friends with that
I think I should shot out....and those
are; Let Live, and Werewolf With Robot
Hands...if you havent heard of those
bands or heard them yet... just go
to purevolume and search for them,
they are both great.
Bryan: Any bands
that you haven't played with that
you would like to?
Chris: Oh of course,
all of our favorite bands, ranging
anywhere between U2 to Underoath,
from Beloved(rip) to Interpol, from
Misery Signals to the Notwist, tons
man, tons and tons i could go on forever....anyone
huge so we could play in front of
like 330238803835 people ahahaha.
Bryan: Who are some
of your influences?
Chris: As far as
the band goes, Travis and Adam...well
Ithink everyone but me, likes Saves
The Day A LOT...I dont hate them by
any means, I just dont draw ideas
from them... Jake (we dont want to
say this) loves Beloved...as do we
all... Adam loves Glassjaw a ton as
do we all, as far as I am concerned,
I'm a trained singer so I love all
kinds of weird things ahaha...but
my influences that are heavy at the
moment are the following: U2, Further
Seems Forever (How To Start A Fire,
with Jason Gleason...best singer.),
Misery signals, and a lot more.
Bryan: What bands
have you been listening to lately?
Chris: A l ot of
Beloved since they broke up, Misery
Signals, Further Seems Forever, Brandston,
Cartel, U2, a lot of obscure random
vocalists, just to hear styles...
American Football, Appleseed Cast,
Casket Lottery, old American Nighmare
(i refuse to call them GUTG), Killswitch
Engage, oh and secretly the new Relient
K record (sooo good!!)
Bryan: What do you
like to do in your spare time?
Chris: Write, hang
out with my friends...my girlfriend
lives with me, so I hang out with
her a ton, which rules, find new music,
write new music, play music...go shopping,
movies, play any classic nintendo
games (mario, zelda, etc) and a lot
more.
Bryan: Anything you
would like to add?
Chris: Yeah, go get
our EP which is coming out tentatively
mid to late january..it will blow
you away and anyone who ever wants
to contact us and ask us questions,
tell us they love us, tell us the
dont like us at all, talk to us at
all... do so... you can get our aim
names from our purevolume
site or our myspace
so go do that and tell all your friends
about Eandi, we are on the rise bwuwahahh!
ahhahaha. much love. |
